The facilitator's script
Instructions for filling in the facilitator's script
The facilitator's script will help you to plan the workshop step by step. In each column, fill in the necessary information for each part of the workshop.
- Duration refers to how long each phase will take – for example, 15 minutes or 45 minutes, or as much time as the facilitator thinks is needed for the phase.
- The Who column is for planning (if necessary, with your colleagues) who will facilitate each phase of the workshop. For example, there may be different experts leading different phases; the facilitator can take the lead, there might be an invited expert taking the lead or giving a talk, or a member of the Community of Practice.
- The What happens column contains the details of what will happen at each phase of the workshop (for example, an idea generation exercise, a break, a discussion).
- How to implement is filled with information on how or with what method(s) each phase will be implemented. For example, it may be a question of brainstorming, discussions in small groups, individual work or use of a digital tool.
- The Why we do it column is for clarifying what you expect to reach with each method. What is the purpose or objective of this phase? For example, it may be a question of gathering ideas, increasing understanding or engaging participants.
- Other things to consider include the details related to equipment (such as technical equipment), special arrangements, etc. (for example, a flipchart, post-it notes, a Teams link).
